The
Warwick Pottery club is situated in Horsman Road oppostie the former Slade
School. The club was established in 1974 and operated temporarily at P.G.C.
In 1986 the Warwick Shire Council made available the current historic
cottage and with financial assistance from local, State and Federal grants - and
lots of volluntary work by members - the old building was converted to a gallery
and workshop area.
Meeetings are held on the first Monday of each month
commencing at 7pm
The club is currently running a six week beginners
corse with the regular Saturday afternoon group. These introcuctory courses are
run periodically as interest is shown.
The club also holds weekend
workshops with visiting tutors approximately twice a year. School holiday
workshops for children are held in July.
Yearly membership is $35 and
members may use the facilities at any time. The club has a supply of clay for
sale and a range of books and periodicals for members to borrow. Equipment
includes a small electric kiln, a gas kiln, and electric wheels.
The
potters currently run two Craft Markets, a combined Crafts Christmas Shop and an
annual selling exhibition. The Craft Markets are held on Jumpers and Jazz
weekend and Rodeo weekend. The first Market will be held this year on Jumpers
and Jazz weekend; 28 - 29 July
